The National Enquirer published an apology in its Tuesday British edition for reporting false stories about Britney Spears and her husband Kevin Federline. The tabloid came up with flashy stories twice in June under the headlines, ‘Britney marriage is over!’ and ‘Britney and Kevin: And now their divorce!’. Both the stories were sourced to unidentified pals of the Britney.

Britney sued the newspaper, her lawyer Paul Tweed and lawyer representing American Media Inc., the Boca Raton, Fla.-based publisher of the National Enquirer reached to a settlement. Britney didn’t ask for any monetary damages but made them publish a public apology.

The tabloid published that they accept Britney and Kevin are not getting divorced and the allegations were untrue. They accepted that the stories were baseless and apologized Britney for causing any distress.
So what if she made the tabloid accept this fact now, everybody knows, now or then the headlines will come true.
