Ingredients:
For the cake:
All purpose flour – 200 gms
Dark Chocolate (chopped) – 125 gms
Unsalted butter – 200 gms
Castor sugar – 250 gms
Cocoa powder – 30 gm
Water – 200 ml
Baking powder – 1/2 tsp
Cocoa powder – 30 gm
Eggs – 3

For the ganache:
Thick cream – 200 gms
Dark chocolate (chopped) – 300 gms

Method:
For the ganache:
To prepare the ganache, in a saucepan boil cream. Pull off the stove, pour over chocolate pieces, and keep mixing until chocolate melts. Stand it overnight before use.

For the cake:
1.) In a double boiler melt the chocolate. Pull off the stove, add butter to the chocolate, and mix well.
2.) Set a vessel on the stove. Add water and when it warms, add sugar to it and stir until sugar dissolves completely. Do not boil the syrup. Remove from flame.
3.) In a mixing bowl, mix the sugar syrup and chocolate-butter mixture well.
4.) Now break the eggs and add one by one stirring constantly.
5.) Sift the flour, baking and cocoa powders and add them to the mixture. Mix well so that no lumps are formed.
6.) Now grease a 9 inch round baking tray and pour the entire batter. Bake in a preheated oven at 160C for 30-40 minutes or until done. To check if done insert a knife into the cake and if the blade comes off clean, then the cake is done.
7.) Cool the cake sufficiently. Now half the cake horizontally. Spread the chocolate ganache on one layer and put the other layer on top of it. Cover the entire cake with the ganache. Put it in the refrigerator to chill before serving.
8.) You can also enjoy the cake with vanilla ice cream or fresh whipped cream topping.
