If there is one pop singer who makes more news for her bizarre fashion sense and gaffes than her music, then it is Lady Gaga. Her outfits may well be a joke, but it seems that GaGa ain’t so gaga when the joke’s on her.
The eccentric singer, who has a legion of fans, rejected a request by artist “Weird Al” Yankovic to spoof her in a song. However, later she changed her mind, either due to a sudden development of a sense of humor or to avoid negative publicity on the internet. The latter is more likely since the video was already garnering enough hits and laughs ever since it was uploaded on Youtube by Yankovic.
The song is probably the only serious thing that has happened to Lady Gaga in her entire musical career. It is a parody on Gaga???s own song ???Born This Way??? and is called ???Perform This Way???. As a satire is meant to be, it does take a dig at her weird claim to fame (now, who doesn???t?) and guess even the lady saw it (though pretty late) and finally approved the song (sigh!). The album should hit the market in June.
Yankovic could legally release the spoofs under law but has always sought permission from the artists he mocks. These include Michael Jackson, Nirvana, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, R.E.M., Green Day, U2, Bob Marley, Alanis Morissette etc.
