Actor Tom Cruise appeared at Chicago International Film Festival this weekend to honor filmmaker Steven Spielberg with Gold Hugo award. Steven and Tom worked together for War of the Worlds and media reported about a rift between the two because of Tom’s behavior, when they were at a promotional tour for the movie last summer. However, everything seemed pretty normal between both of them otherwise Tom would not have bothered himself by planning a surprise appearance.

Tom praised Steven by saying that he is pleasured to meet him. Then he addressed to Steven directly and said, ‘You took me to dinner when I was a young actor. I’ve seen every one of his films many, many times. I actually study his films’. Apart from Tom a bunch of other stars took initiative to say nice things about the man behind Schindler’s List, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Jaws.

A feast of stars including Jude Law, Catherine Zeta-Jones, George Lucas, David Geffen gave video presentations. Clips of Steven’s work were shown with comments by Roy Scheider and Cuba Gooding Jr. Steven was so deeply touched with all this he said that it makes him hungry and now he would go home with a good appetite to work more.
