Being famous is a full time career and many people how get famous often find that they have very little time for family, while many well established names somehow manage to balance their careers and their personal lives, there are many others still who choose to give up fame all together.
A number of celebrities in Hollywood who are married with kids manage to balance their work and life balance by cutting back on the number of film projects that they take on and share child rearing responsibilities with their spouses. So actually very few of them really give their careers altogether.
Actress grace Kelly was a very big star who quit during the height of her career after she married the prince of Monaco. This was largely because her high profile marriage would not leave her with a lot of time to continue acting.
Bollywood, on the other hand usually sees its biggest actresses disappear from the spotlight after they get married. Once upon a time, marriages in Bollywood usually meant the abrupt end of a glorious career, but this notion seems to be changing. The industry itself is in a process of change with many roles being created for all age groups, so tying the knot isn’t a hurdle any more.
Some time back, things were completely different, some actresses chose to step out of the limelight after marriages as they wanted to focus on family- take for example, Madhuri Dixit, who simply vanished after marriage and was only recently making a comeback in small roles across films and reality shows.
Sridevi too retired from acting and has recently stirred up her career with her film ‘English Vinglish’ that showed her in a completely different role. She is also spotted with her children in a number of public vents and hostings.
Then there is Kajol who last starred in ‘Toonpur ka Superhero’ with husband Ajay Devgan. She too had quit her acting career in 1999 after marriage and shortly after was greeted with a number of hits; she then took long breaks owing to child birth.
Karishma Kapoor is one actress that is struggling to pick up the pieces. She too had also quit after marriage and has only recently made a cone back wit the Kellogg’s sponsorships and deals with other companies.
