Following the discovery of treatment of osteoporosis with dried plums, scientists from the University of Arizona, have revealed in the journal Arthritis & Rheumatism that the most often used Indian spice turmeric might offer a non-drug treatment to osteoporosis and arthritis. This is just another study to prove the anti-inflammatory effect of turmeric, due to the presence of radical scavenger curcumin.

An earlier study in the Life Extension Magazine December 1997 pointed out the fact that curcumin inhibits those enzymes that interfere with the synthesis of inflammatory substances in the body. As more researches in the past and the latest one have consolidated the potency in curing osteoporosis and arthritis, what remains to be discovered is the culinary incorporation of turmeric in English and American cuisine.
