U.S. says no to Lilly Allen. U.S. authorities have stripped the work visa of the 22-year old singer, which has put her September tour in questions. Lilly Allen was searched and questioned for five long hours on Sunday by Los Angeles custom officers following her arrest and warning in London last March for assaulting a photographer.
The 22-year-old, known for her kooky style and her contagious pop tunes was shocked by the ban. Now Lily Allen’s September tour is in question because she cannot perform without a work visa. She had flown from Australia to LA for the MTV video music awards nominations party today and a film music video with Kanye West.
But Allen’s rep played down reports claiming the British pop star had her U.S. visa canceled after being detained at a Los Angeles airport.
Allen who is due to return to the UK in the next few days said,
I am trying everything I can to sort this out.
It is my intention to play my American dates in September. This depends on the authorities granting me a new work visa.
I want my fans to know that I will do everything I can to be back in America in September. I don’t like letting my fans down and this is a situation that I am sure we can sort.
