I wonder why people are so obsessed with celebrities’ weight and waistlines all the time. I mean it’s a problem if they are too fat and it’s a problem if they are too thin. How does one live with that? And it’s not good enough that you do your job well enough as well.
Just look at Angelina Jolie. She just got a Screen Actors Guild nomination for ‘A Mighty Heart’, she already has a Golden Globe nomination and yet, some people would rather talk about her looking too thin, not to mention the rumors that it is a result of anorexia, drug-abuse and some mysterious fatal disease.
Now Angie has already clarified the matter in an interview to Grazia magazine that her sudden weight loss originated from her mother’s death in January.
In her own words:
The thing that’s disturbing is that instead of people saying, ‘This looks like a person that’s actually dealing with something, probably from emotions,’ they say, ‘Does she fit into skinny jeans and look thin?’
I want people to understand who I am as a person is not somebody that’s trying to look thin, but just trying to work through a very difficult year.
Thankfully her beau Brad Pitt had been around to take care of her. And she acknowledges his efforts too.
He is just a great friend and when my mother passed, he was so great. He sat with me and held (my mother’s) hand. After she passed away he spent the night asking me and brother about our mother and got us to tell funny stories about her… He focused on all the love and joy we were fortunate enough to have had. He was extraordinary.
I guess the lady really deserves a break here.
