Venue fixed for Diana’s 10th anniversary memorial service

late diana 2263The official website of the prince of wales has released a statement declaring the venue for the 10th anniversary memorial service for Diana, ‘princess of Wales’.

According to the statement released, the memorial service will be held at The Guards’ Chapel at Wellington Barracks in central London on Friday 31st August 2007.

Padre Patrick Irwin, Chaplain to the Household Division, will lead the Service and address will be given by Dr Richard Chartres, the Dean of the Chapels Royal.

But there is mixed reaction over the venue chosen by the ‘serving officers in the Household Division’, Prince William and Prince Harry.

The reason for this reaction is the crowd holding capacity of the venue because the memorial service is expected to be attented by many high profile personalities, including the members of the royal family as well as friends of the late Princess and representatives from her charities and other organisations.

St. paul’s Cathedral would have been a better choice for the memorial service which will be broadcast live on television by the BBC, as it is the same place where the late Diana married the future King in July 1981.

But irrespective of the venue, the Princess of the People will always live in our hearts.
