‘The American Gangster’ star Denzel Washington never wanted to become a huge Hollywood star. Denzel’s childhood dream was to be a football player rather than Oscar wining actor.
Denzel told US talk show host Oprah Winfrey,
‘I wanted to be a football player. But God had his own plan.
My son is taking care of that for me, he’s living the dream. I studied theatre and thought I’d do Broadway shows one day and make $650 a week. I had no intention of going to Hollywood and never really thought about it.’

The 52-year old Washington, 52, and Forrest Whittaker appeared on the Oprah Winfrey to talk about new movie ‘The Great Debaters.’
‘The Great Debaters’ stars the two Academy Award Winners and also directed by Washington and produced by Winfrey herself.
