When will the two stroke vehicles in India gets banned?

When I am typing this article, i am reluctantly smelling a two stroke autorickshaw’s exhaust that went past my street. Four stroke engines were new and expensive, some 5 or 6 years back. But today, almost 90% of the two wheelers run in 4 stroke engines, thanks to the growing economy, as people are ready to shell out more than 40,000 for a 100 cc motorcycle and hence could easily afford a 4 stroke engine powered bike. But, the three wheeler users, in my opinion still enjoy to torture the road users as well as environment by gushing out the blue-white smoke out of the exhaust pipes.

I wonder, if they are aware of this fact or not. Thanks to Bajaj, for they still offer the decade old 2 stroke engines(of course, Bajaj also offers 4 stroke, in LPG, CNG and petrol but nobody seems to be interested in buying them). The newbie, TVS which began selling ‘King’ 200 cc 4 stroke auto is atleast a good sign and it would be better if many people start buying 4 stroke autos. But, most of the autos running on road (or atleast in Chennai, i can guarantee) are 2 stroke and adding to the out dated technology’s higher level of pollution, due to the negligent maintenance of auto walas causing polluting exhaust and that horrible smell, tail gating behind a 2 stroke autos is one of the most punishing moment for any rider everyday.

Now, forget the 2 stroke Auto rickshaws. Think about the 2 stroke mopeds. Especially in south India, the ‘namma ooru vandi’ TVS XL is now sold as TVS ‘XL Super’ which is a 2 stroke moped. Recently, I was shocked to hear that the moped sales have increased. And hence, these moped users will equally pollute the environment as much as the 2 stroke auto walas.

My Question is,

Why is the Government nor the SIAM don’t fix any deadline to stop the production/ usage of two stroke bikes or auto rickshaws?

Albeit the pollution caused by the 2 stroke bike/auto rickshaw users may not directly throw red alert on pollution charts( as many of you might think), don’t you think its better to go for the advanced technology (4 stroke) that pollutes half less than a 2 stroke and completely ban the production of the mopeds like TVS XL Super and Bajaj 2 stroke Autos?
