Of the many hysterics Whoopi Goldberg stands for, Whoopi has stumped us all yet again by admitting she smoked home grown pot to calm her nerves during the Oscar night of 1991. The hilarious actress, who won the Oscar in 1991 for her performance in the movie ‘Ghost’ in the Best Supporting Actor category, is famous for her clever one liners,and impeccable comic timing has gathered unwarranted attention for a queer act that is common to most celebrities, but the incidence of being stoned on an Oscar night and going onto win the coveted prize is a shocker!
According to a clip from TMZ, dated August 9, 1992 and reportedly filmed during a voice-over session for The Pagemaster, Goldberg revealed she was so shocked by her win that she was worried about making it up to the stage.
“When he [presenter Denzel Washington] said my name and I popped up, I thought, ‘Oh f—…okay, up the stairs … around to the podium … there’s millions of people, pick up the statue, get the statue,”
she said.
While the actress was poised in her acceptance speech, she says her mother could tell her daughter was stoned because of her “glistening eyes” and later called to scold her.
“I know you’re not supposed to admit that you smoke pot, but I don’t drink alcohol,” Goldberg says on the tape. “Just because I do it doesn’t mean you should.”
With skeletons tumbling out of many famous celebrities??? closets, Whoopi Goldberg???s shocking admission is just a reminder that getting stoned, drunken escapades, jewellery thefts and anti-Semitic tantrums are the relics of Hollywood.
