Few hours from now, over two billion people across the world will watch Prince William marry Kate Middleton. Already thousands of journalists have gathered in London to bring this ultimate reality TV show to you.

One of the prayers said during the ceremony was that the couple may be blessed with kids. Prince William is second in line to the throne of England. He will rule after his father, Prince Charles, has had his turn.

The Queen of England is currently 84 years old. Her mother, the Queen Mother, died at 101. So if Queen Elizabeth lives up to 101 years, Charles will get the throne in 27 years time. Charles who is now 62 will be 89 years old when he will become the King of England. If Charles lives to be 101 years, Prince William will become the King of England in 39 years time. At that point, William will be 67 years old. If William lives to be 101 years, his rule will end in 2084.

The year 2084 will be a post-reality world. The United Kingdom must have disintegrated by then. With the rise of China and the fall of America, it will be a new world order. The British people will no longer have the stomach to support the life style of the royal family for the next 73 years. The London Daily Telegraph estimates that the annual cost of maintaining the royal family is 38.2 million pounds.

In the wake of a royal wedding, support for the monarchy rose in Britain. In a survey conducted by the Guardian newspaper in 1997, 48% of Britons thought that the United Kingdom would be worse off without the royal family. Today, the same survey put the figure at 63%. But anti-monarchy groups, often called republicans, are consistently 20% – 30% of the British population.

British monarchy started in 1066 when William, Duke of Normandy, conquered England to become the first King of what is today the United Kingdom. It might as well end with another William.
