Indian political leaders know just the way to bring out their points of contention and efficiency as future leaders of the country. And the latest to join the bandwagon has been Narendra Modi who claimed that it was a man’s marital status which ultimately went on to define his contribution to corruption.
The minister while asserting his Prime Ministerial capabilities at Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh pointed out to his single status to be a strong point in curbing corruption from the nation saying “This body and mind is totally devoted to the nation”. His further revelations about black money being concealed and tucked away in foreign countries to be belonging to certain Indians subtly pointed to the dynastical rule of the Gandhis as the head of Congress in the political scenario of India.
Alleged Marriage
However, whether his statement does have any relevance is something to probe deeper considering the minister’s rumored marriage with Jashodaben, news which came into the forefront in 2009 with a popular magazine printing the news of their marital relationship. According to the news Jashodaben tied the knot with Modi when she was only 18. The fact that she was hardly educated having studied up to a standard 8th was a truth Modi could never come to terms with and this became the primary reason of pushing their marriage on the rocks. Jashodaben is reluctant of coming to the forefront because of her looks and because she is aware of the high profile status of her husband.
The matter came under bigger speculations when Modi did not challenge the claims raising questions as to whether the news was indeed true and whether the minister was trying to keep his actual marital status under wraps to come to use his singlehood status as a potential tool for Prime Ministerial elections.
Modi-the Patriot
Looking at the positive side of the character, Narendra Modi has remained a patriot from his childhood, an aspect which he depicted when during the Indi-Pak War, Modi then 15 years old went forth to serve the soldiers during their transit at railway stations. He also volunteered to help the people of Gujarat inflicted by the massacre of floods in 1967 when he was 17 years old. If he is inherently patriotic by nature and chooses to serve the nation with dedication sans treading on the path of corruption, can a singlehood status or a married status hinder him from doing the best for the nation?
