probation for marijuana possession 14

Country music star Willie Nelson and his tour manager narrowly escaped a jail time on Tuesday, as the two pleaded guilty in Louisiana to a serious crime of marijuana possession.

Nelson, tour manager David Anderson, Nelson’s sister, Bobbie Nelson, and two drivers were issued citations on Sept. 18 after the state troopers found marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms on his tour bus in a commercial vehicle inspection.

State District Judge Paul deMahy imposed a fine of $1,024 each on Nelson and Anderson and put both on a six-month probation. The citation against sister Bobbie Nelson was dismissed.

Citation against the two drivers was dismissed as they were not found linked to the possession by any means.

Nelson’s presence in the small southern Louisiana town created quite an unrest, and about 25 fans gathered outside to catch a glimpse of the singer after his brief court appearance. Nelson shook hands, signing autographs and posed for photographs with his village fans.
