Yahoo’s, lifestyle section is reported to have launched a food portal named as Yahoo Food on 2 November 2006. The food portal that claims to target the daily meal planning of consumers had apparently responded to searches for 1.5 million recipes by 4pm yesterday.
Apparently, Yahoo Food provides with exhaustive recipes for special occasions, everyday cooking, celebrity columns, starred recipes in restaurants, recipes by famous chefs, food videos and much more. Yahoo has ventured with major food sites like Food Network, Allrecipes.com and Epicurious for content, Kraft Foods and other celebrity chefs for resources.
Yahoo is perhaps the first portal to have launched such an exhaustive food section, targeting consumer’s convenience, which becomes evident through blogs, health foods and of course, customization of meals as per consumer demands. Therefore, there is a chance that this portal in the garb of marketing its Yahoo Lifestyle section can actually add some functionality to the ongoing dining trends in the culinary sector.
