Yummy glass paintings

clobargeAn artist can definitely inspire another artist and here it is an art inspiring to inspire another artist. The Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach holds some of the most enticing blown-glass by the Seattle artist Dale Chihuly, which has translated themselves into culinary creations in the hands of pastry artist Bette Ricci of Cutler Ridge. These paintings were translated into pastries at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables. As per Bette Ricci:

Chihuly does fabulous stuff, and he is such a big thing here at Fairchild, I thought it would be nice to incorporate his works in my cake decorations.

How she does it? The answer is simple whatever Chihuly does glass and paint, Ricci does it with fondant, water and brush. Food art is at the finger tips of Bette as she creates it in her own confectionary at Entertaining Desserts & Cakes for various caterers. As per Ricci:

Creating these cakes is therapeutic and peaceful. It’s good downtime.

Well those of you who want to enjoy this fantasy can get all the tools you require prior to getting started with draping the fondant on the buttercake and then go about with the rolling of fondant over the cake and tinting it with Chihuly’s designs.
