Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt seem to be heading for some turbulent times in the near future with the news about the birth family of their two-year-old adopted daughter Zahara, seeking her return to Ethiopia. Twenty four-year-old Mentewab Dawit Lebiso, claims to be the mother of Zahara, wants her daughter back in order to regain her identity.
The readers need to be reminded that there is news stating the purchase of a man-made island in the shape of Ethiopia in Dubai, by the Hollywood couple as a tribute to their little daughter.
Mentewab disclosed that she was raped by a stranger, which led to the birth of the baby on 7th January 2205, and she was forced to move with her mother to get a job as a laborer.
She placed her baby for adoption when she realized that she could not raise her and that the child would die of starvation.
Jolie had spoken proudly earlier, of Zahara being an AIDS orphan from Ethiopia. America’s Touch magazine states that Zahara has an extended family in Africa, as they claim to have seen the child’s adoption papers. Zahara’s aunt, Zinash Haile Yenero, revealed that they were promised by the official who took the baby to the adoption agency that they would be in touch with the baby, but they eventually lost contact with the child.
Mentewab, the birth mother of Zahara did not sign the papers giving her daughter for adoption, which strengthened her case of getting her back, only if she had money enough to pursue her case. On the other hand, Wide Horizons for Children, the agency Angelina adopted Zahara from, claims that the entire process of adoption is legal.
Angelina’s friends and fans would certainly not want her to part away with her adorable baby and would wait with crossed fingers to see the turn of events!
