105-yr old Koti railway station disappeared after landslide in Himachal

At least 14 people killed because of overnight heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh. Shimla went without the fresh supplies of essential daily commodities such as milk, bread, vegetables and newspapers on Monday. The non-stop heavy rains snapped the rail and road links to Shimla with the plains.

According to the report, more than 100 metres of railway track on the Shimla-Kalka route near the Koti railway station in Solan went down because of the landslides. The major landslide disrupted the train services from Kalka to Shimla.

The railway officials said that it would take some time to resume the train services in the route as a major portion of the Shimla-Kalka highway has been blocked. Because of the heavy rain a hillock fell apart on the railway track.

The 105-year-old Koti railway station that falls between Barog and Kalka, disappeared but no loss of life was reported from there. According to the gangman on duty, Shiv Kumar, It would take time to restore rail traffic only till the next fortnight more time to re-establish the Koti station.

Further, the Chandigarh-Manali road link has been disrupted because of landslides at many places. Tarun Kapoor, Shimla Deputy Commissioner, said that 4 persons died in a landlside at Matiana village, near the Narkanda.

Two migrant laborers buried alive in Kasauli. Two others killed because of a house collapse at Nagali village in Solan district. Three persons died in Hamirpur. Two died in Mandi. Three shops were buried under a landslide on Sunday.
