Ace rapper 50 Cent has sued Traffix Inc., an Internet advertising company for $1 million for using his image without his legal permission.
In the game called ‘Shoot the Rapper,’ the player pretends to shoot the rapper. The game shows 50 Cent moving along the ad across the top of a Web page and the viewer is supposed to aim and shoot with the help of mouse click. A successful shot links the gamer to another page where ad firm’s clients sell their goods and services.
Peter Raymond, the rappers lawyer alleged that though the game nowhere mention the rapper’s name, the character has been intentionally designed to looks exactly like 50 Cent.
50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson, is a known victim of gun violence, which might be the reason why the advertising company has used the character. However, using his image without any commercial endorsement or legal permission has offended the rapper, who has filed a lawsuit of $1 million, in addition to a permanent ban on the use of his image.
