40 feared killed in Naxal attack at police outpost in Chhattisgarh

In a brutal attack, naxalites have, reportedly killed 40 security personnel in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. The incident happened in a Rani Bodli police outpost when some armed Naxals lobbed grenades to the policemen and suddenly opened indiscriminate fire on them.

The report said further that more than 80 police officers were present in the outpost including 23 police personnel of Chhattisgarh armed force and 55 special police officers.

Later, the Bastar Range IG RK Vij said:

Many bodies and arms are still lying in that area. We are unable to give the actual figure of people died in the brutal attack.

The naxals had attacked at the outpost from all sides by lobbing grenades and petrol bombs. They had also land-mined the area and the barrack outside the outpost.

Now, the CRPF and additional forces of state police have been reached the spot. The Bomb Disposal Squad started clearing land mines out side the police post.

Bijapur is completely a naxal-affected area in the most naxal-affected state in the country.
The naxalites of this region have become more aggressive after the Salwa Judum or anti-naxal operation.

They have started targeting security forces and common people both. In the last two years, almost 676 people have been killed in Naxal-related violence in the state.
