trial over drug charges 14
Just a day before his sellout concert at London’s new Wembley Stadium, gay pop singer George Michael is due to appear in court over drug charges.

The 43-year-old singer, whose real name is George Panayiotou was detained in October for driving under the influence of drugs. A district judge ruled that the trial will take place on May 8, followed by May 30, May 31 and June 8. Following the last trial, Michael is playing the first concert at Wembley Stadium on June 9.

Judge Katherine Marshall, rejected the plea for Michael’s absence throughout the trial. The judge said that she wanted the pop singer to be present in the court in person and was willing to bail him to reappear on the final day.

George Michael first shot to fame with the 1980 album Wham! after which he launched his solo career.
