The rise of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to the position of eminence has been phenomenal and left the entire class of political analyst stunned. The traditional parties that dominated the political scene of the nation for the past six decades are to an extent responsible for the commendable strides that the Aam Aadmi Party has taken in a very short span of time. The faith that general masses vested in them stands as a testimony to the frustration against the policies of the traditional parties.
Considered as novice in politics, Arvind Kejriwal and his team managed to rest power from the incumbent Congress and kept Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) at bay. The iconic face of the AAP and the Delhi Chief Minister, Kejriwal has promised change. Moreover, the change is evident in the entire political landscape of the nation. It has changed for good. Austerity has become the buzzword and the heavy weights of all national parties are aping his austerity measures.
As soon as he was at the helm of affairs of the national capital, he unleashed a slew of populist measures to heal the wounds of the beleaguered masses. However, are the measures taken practical, is a question that only time can answer.
However, what followed was a shock to the staunchest of his supporters. Kejriwal and his close aides, has come under fire for their unruly behavior. The media that came out to be its propagator and savior earlier is vying for his head now. The party’s honeymoon with media has ended abruptly.
The “Dharna” was seen as nothing more than a gimmick to gain some more limelight. It is seen as an exercise that did more harm than good to the image of the party. Kejriwal is being dubbed as an anarchist, who specializes in creating chaos on the slightest of pretext. The professional attitude is missing and they are resorting to the ever-reliable, hit and trial method.
Moreover, the opposition parties are, actively exploiting the issue of the Law minister, demanding his resignation. The party has to deal with the dissents that may prove detrimental to the expansion designs of the AAP.
The parliamentary elections are around the corner and everyone is anticipating the performance of AAP with waited breath. AAP is yet to come up with comprehensive policies related to various spheres as they are often found wanting when quizzed about their stand on issues of great importance to the nation and its people. Moreover, they are yet to be tested in the rural parts of the country.
