In less than a week since Mayawati came in power, Taj is beginning to turn yellow. We all know that during 2002-2003, Mayawati was charged with corruption in the Taj Corridor scam, a project to upgrade tourist facilities near the Taj Mahal. Central Bureau of Investigation is investigating the case.

A parliamentary committee report says that Taj is loosing its charm due to pollution. Rajya Sabha MP, Sitaram Yechury of CPI is leading the Committee. He recommends taking caution to retain the original glory of the Taj which is turning yellow day by day. In his report which was tabled in Parliament he said:

The Committee expresses its concern that Taj Mahal, the world famous monument at Agra is becoming yellowish due to deposition of Suspended Particulate Matter (SPM).

The committee based its findings on data from the Air Pollution Monitoring Laboratory in the city of Agra. It is constantly monitoring the effects of air pollution on Taj Mahal, the world famous white-marbled monument of love. The report said that levels of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide in the air are in acceptable range, whereas the suspended particulate matter is always at a very high level except during the rainy season. The report also suggested applying mud pack as beauty treatment of Taj Mahal. The clay pack will remove the accretionary deposits on white marble.
