As Alec Baldwin’s malicious words to his daughter were broadcast everywhere in the media, the 49-year-old justified his act yesterday on his Web site.
He wrote,
Although I have been told by numerous people not to worry too much, as all parents lose their patience with their kids, I am most saddened that this was released to the media because of what it does to a child. I’m sorry, as everyone who knows me is aware, for losing my temper with my child. I have been driven to the edge by parental alienation for many years now. You have to go through this to understand. (Although I hope you never do.) I am sorry for what happened. But I am equally sorry that a court order was violated, which had deliberately been put under seal in this case.
The tension between Baldwin and his ex-wife, Kim Basinger, became public when an angry phone message from Baldwin to his daughter got leaked to the media. The couple are currently sorting out custody disputes of their daughter, Ireland, following their split in 2002.
Baldwin said that he is not as bad as he sounded on the tape. It was just that he is tired of the continuous battle between him and his wife. He added that he was caught on the worst day and is being quoted as a hateful father.
Baldwin’s attorney, Vicki Greene, said that investigations to determine how the tape got leaked are going on. Also it is being assessed if Kim Basinger, or her attorneys, or Harvey Levin (who runs TMZ.com) is associated with the leakage of the tape. The matter will be heard in court on June 5.
Basinger’s attorney, Neal Hersh, alleged that Baldwin was too rude when he called his daughter, ‘a thoughtless little pig’ and went on to say, ‘You don’t have the brains or the decency as a human being,’ when she did not respond to her father’s call.
Although Alec acknowledges that he could have used better words, but he says that no one can understand the agony he is being subjected to since the last six years.
Baldwin, 49, and Basinger, 53, got hitched in 1993 and got divorced in 2002. Since the split, the coupe has been fighting over legal disputes and custody of their daughter.
