Amy Winehouse has sunk further into the dumps now. She is virtually under house arrest. Her father Mitch and her record label want to take no chances after she had to be shifted to hospital with emphysema a few days ago. They feel the only way to stop Amy from self-destruction is to keep her from harm’s way. That means keeping her at home which is guarded by burly security men. Only known acquaintances will be allowed to meet her. Amy had to barter two cigarettes in exchange for an autograph through the letter box!
All this happened after Winehouse admitted in an interview that she had been cheating during her rehab stints, smoking and taking drugs on the sly. The reason she gave shows her up as a weak person she really is. She said that she was without her husband and that she was lonely. Trademark excuses of a weak person! Taking drugs because one is bored!
Amy was heard yelling by onlookers, pleading to be let out. She did manage to escape into a waiting car, but was within minutes traced by her dad and brought back. All the ‘imprisonment’ stuff is hardly the solution. Nothing is going to be achieved by forcing Amy to be ‘good.’ She has to have the will to do so herself. She seems to have lost all motivation to live and is living life like a car with no brakes.
She needs some serious psychiatric treatment by some first-rate doctors. The problem is in her mind. Mitch has failed as a parent. He should have chided and taken care of his daughter when she was little. Trying to act the ‘tough’ father now is doing things too late.
