Angelina Jolie pens her concerns about Iraqi refugees

jolie for humanitarian aid for iraq

Angelina Jolie is not another pretty face in Hollywood whose life revolves around fame, wealth and gossips. As the goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Jolie has joined league with the famous beautiful faces of the world like the late Princess of Wales Diana to make the world aware of the plight of the innocent victims of war. Moved by the condition of the people in Iraq plunged in a humanitarian crisis, after her visit to the war ravaged country, Jolie has penned down her concerns in an article published in the Washington Post.

More than 2 million Iraqis are refugees in their own country without homes, jobs, medicine, food and clean water. 58% of who are children below 12-years. Syria and Jordan being overwhelmed with another 2.5 million Iraqis seeking asylum in these countries have been forced to close their borders until international community provides support. After speaking to the displaced Iraqis, the Hollywood actor has concluded that the Iraqi families are proud and resilient in nature and the only help they are seeking from the international community is to give them the chance to return to their homes. Jolie has urged the United States administration to stop gambling with the lives of over 4 million refugees in the Middle East that is threatening to plunge the region to further disorder. We only hope that the concerns of the Hollywood actor make at least some impact on the Bush administration.
