We always knew that Angelina Jolie is no dumb broad. She has repeatedly raised concerns about humanitarian crises in different parts of the world. Her presence at the prestigious Council for Foreign Relations (CFR) was confirmation (if any was needed) that she is a woman of substance. Her latest concern is the children in Iraq. She is no armchair theorizer. She has been to the country twice and seen things at the ground.
Her initiative on Iraqi children is called Education Partnership for Children of Conflict. That is what she talked about at the CFR. She makes a lot of sense. She says the children of the country should be educated and thus they will become aware of choices, of becoming doctors, engineers etc. The kids will see beyond the present violence and they are the ones who will grow up tomorrow and rebuild Iraq. I guess the fact that Angelina is going to be a mother soon, has lend weight to her thinking and is making her a better woman. She told People rather endearingly that while she was addressing the CFR meet she felt her baby (or babies) kicking inside.
We are not alone in saying that Angelina is a woman of substance. Lisa Shields, vice president of communications at CFR gives her the vote too. She said,
Angelina Jolie is accomplished in her field and has demonstrated serious interest in issues such as Darfur, international education and refugees
