Are We Safe in Delhi Metro?

“Agar aapke paas kuch galat samaan hai to apne aap rakh do varna nikal jao, metro ki chinta mat karo, hum pehchan lete hain,” that is what I got to hear from one of the securitymen or rather the only security personal who was in a dizzy mood, grossly playing with the Delhi metro’s security last night.

It was around 10:50 pm last night, walking down from the simply overcrowded Old Delhi Raliway Station, carefully putting myself away from odd smells and prowling monkeys, I entered the world class city’s pride – Delhi metro – in Chandni Chowk area where I come across a facet of gross security breach that was simply welcoming any untoward incident or the worst, even an easy terror strike may take place effortlessly.

No security at the entry gates of station, not even a single constable to frisk while entering the metal detector, the Chandni Chowk metro station was depend only on one slothfully deployed CISF constable sitting uninterestingly besides the baggage scanners, not even a single official (officer of not less than Sub-Inspector rank is supposed to stand there) was present, not even a single women security guard, putting the whole world-class infrastructure vulnerable to a terror attack.

Over 3500 CISF personnel, metal detectors, X-ray baggage inspection systems and dog squads and closed-circuit cameras, where the CISF claims of world class security systems to monitor trains and stations, it is ignoring the fact that those deployed to deal with law and order issues in the system are themselves seem uninterested, irresponsible and adamantly aloof.
