Anti-smoking groups in Australia have criticized ace singer Beyonce Knowles for appearing in her world tour advertisement holding a cigarette. The ads showing her smoking a cigarette emblazoned the newspapers and billboards all over the country.

Quit, an anti-smoking group has requested the Government seeking the ads removal complaining that they could breach the Tobacco Advertising Prohibition Act. Executive director of Quit, Todd Harper said that the tour ad could be mistaken as that of a smoking product, which is illegal.

Action on Smoking and Health director John Banzhaf has also slammed the ‘Irreplaceable’ singer telling American publication Us Weekly,

The objection is to the association of glamour and sexiness with smoking. I hope Beyonce realises it’s wrong and condemns it.

According to website Smoking Sides , Beyonce has been seen smoking in nightclubs. But the singer denied the habit of puffing on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2001.

Beyonce is also under fire from animal rights group PETA because of another commercial ad which shows her alongside live alligators. A PETA spokesperson adds,

Beyonce is so beautiful that she doesn’t need to drag terrified alligators into a picture to get attention.
