Bieber eyes Oliver Twist role

justin bieber oliver twist

Canadian singing sensation Justin Bieber wants to become a pickpocket. No, no, don???t jump the gun, Bieber actually wants to portray the role of Oliver Twist in a remake of the classic 1968 film musical Oliver. The millionaire teenager is confident that he could do justice to the role as his difficult childhood would help him in getting under the skin of the character.

Bieber is worth £60million now but the child prodigy has faced much hardship when he was growing up and he believes that his childhood experience will help him understand the feelings of Charles Dickens’ street urchin. Justin spent his childhood in a basement council flat in Canada. He was raised by his reformed junkie mum after his father divorced her.

Bieber told The Sun,

“That place was really dirty. We had mousetraps everywhere because there were mouses – uh, mice – in the house. I didn’t have a real bed. I slept on a blue pull-out couch in my room. We didn’t have anything in the fridge, except maybe luncheon meat for school and macaroni and cheese. I’d love to play Oliver Twist,”

The role was played Mark Lester more than 40 years ago and Bieber would have to do something extraordinary to make a mark as many other actors have tried their best to portray the character on the big and small screens and Bieber would have to compete with all of them. I know Bieber that you are very talented but the role will definitely test your ability to act. Way to go Bieber, my best wishes are with you.
