CBI arrests DDA, MCD officials in Multi-crore-land scam

The CBI arrested two more Delhi Development Authority officials and another man who was Ashok Malhotra’s employee in the connection with the land scam happened in Dheerpur Phase I during 2000-02 in Delhi.

Further, the CBI has also registered another fresh case against Ashok Malhotra, the said kingpin of the land scam and against six MCD officials in connection with alleged allotment of plots under the Molarband Phase II resettlement scheme in 2007.

On Thursday, the CBI summoned R. S. Sandhu for interrogation under the suspicion that he was also involved in the land scam. Later, the CBI arrested Sandhu on Thursday night. On Friday, CBI produced Sandhu in a court and the court sent him on 10 days’ remand in CBI custody.

On the other hand, the CBI also arrested two DDA officials, Deputy Director A. K. Mishra and Assistant Director J. R. Gaur for helping Ashok Malhotra to allot the plots to Malhotra in fictitious names.

CBI also arrested three more DDA officials, Deputy Director K. S. Verma (now retired), Assistant Engineer Shyam Babu and Junior Engineer S. K. Sharma in the same case.

On Thursday, the CBI had also registered another case against Malhotra and six other MCD officials working in the Slum Upgradation and Rehabilitation Department named as Director S. N. S. Sidhu, Deputy Director Phillip Toppo, Assistant Director Sumer Chand Garg, Upper Division Clerk Atul Vasisht, Assistant Engineer Sher Singh and Junior Engineer Nanak Chand Khandelwal.

The CBI teams have started massive search operation to detect the frauds happened in the multi-crore land scam. The several teams have carried out searches at more than 10 places in Delhi and adjoining areas such as Ghaziabad and Gurgaon and Palwal in Haryana.
