Charlize Theron has earned one more feather in her cap. The South African beauty got designated as UN Messenger of Peace on Friday. In her new role, she’ll be working towards spreading awareness and ending violence against women.
I feel November has brought some new promises for the Oscar-winning actress. First, she was praised by Pierce Brosnan, who went to the extent of claiming that he prefers Charlize over Angelina Jolie as a co-actor. And now, she has almost paralleled herself to Jolie (who is a U.N. goodwill ambassador) on the humanitarian front.
Charlize, 33, is the 10th celebrity to receive this honor. And with this designation, she joins the elite group which includes actors George Clooney and Michael Douglas, musicians Daniel Barenboim, Midori Goto and Yo-Yo Ma, authors Paulo Coelho and Elie Wiesel, equestrian Princess Haya Bint al-Hussein and naturalist Jane Goodall.
