Crash and Brokeback Mountain got top honors at Writer’s Guild

crash 1Oh I love this award season! Surprisingly this year’s Oscar rivals shared the topmost awards at this year’s Writers guild of America Awards. Paul Haggis and Bobby Moresco writers of Crash were awarded with the award for Best Original Screenplay Award. Crash tries to showcase the trauma of racial discrimination in Los Angeles from the point of view of different racial groups.

On the other hand Brokeback Mountain which has been nominated in eight different categories for Academy awards talks about a romantic relationship between two lonely Cowboys. Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana got an award for Best adapted screenplay for the film.

Interestingly both the movies are nominated in the writing categories at this year’s Academy Award as well. What all we can do is just to keep our fingers crosses till the final results are out.
