Disposable Indian women: Why are they disappearing from UP?

Women are universally disliked. At least a cow gives milk, but a woman who fails to produce a male heir is a total loss to the family which looks after her. By the way, a woman does not have anyone as her own. She is to be bought, sold and occasionally killed. If reports published in the Indian Express are anything to go by, then nothing has changed from the time when women were exchanged in Indian markets for so many gold coins and sea-shells.

Haryana, Punjab were known offenders in killing female fetuses, now Uttar Pradesh has joined that hallowed company. The male to female sex ratios are falling rapidly in UP. This has brought with it consequent evils. Men from the state are buying brides from impoverished states like Bihar, Wes Bengal and Orissa. This is at least a tangible fact. But the intangible and missed reality is that psychological aberrations are also on the rise in such states where the sex-ratio is skewed.
When urban India is shining and urban women are experiencing a never before felt freedom, rural India is regressing. And the women suffer the most. They are being sought as nothing else but sexual fodder for male child production. God help the village-woman who keeps having girl children.

Girls are seen as arch-betrayers. They eat off the father and then become assets to their husbands and in-laws! The unkindest cut of all, a family has to pay heavy dowries to get rid of her. Thus goes the spacious logic. Naturally, Indians are now averse to rearing girls. So the easiest solution is to practice female foeticide. When a guy wants to marry he can buy a girl from somewhere, never mind language differences or love.

When there are more men than women per square mile, biological Darwinian demands will force competitive perversions among men. This cruelty apart, which man mistreats a woman? Do we not all have mothers? Our moms are good arsenals in torturing our wives. We deify women as goddesses to be better able to attack and predate the majority.

Feminists can rant on and on, but who is listening?

In fact, there are recorded statements of widows who have found new lives by selling themselves to these Northern men. They say, they have at least some security now while before everyone including women mistreated them as bringers of bad-luck.
Patriarchy is rooted in our souls. And those who are suffering or even inflicting pain have never ever heard of the rights of the girl-child. The battle to save the girl child seems to be headed to a symbolic foeticide. This author had seen a well known PhD holding male academic weeping over the birth of his first child. The tears were not of joy but endless sorrow. His child is a girl.
