The British actress Emma Watson laid a strong foot on the red carpet with her bling entry at the 66th International Film Festival at Cannes, France. With the 12-day event starting May 15, Emma?s film, ?The Bling Ring,? made its debut on the second day of the film festival. The film premiered in the Un Certain Regard category that is for emerging filmmakers. Emma has turned to play on crime in this film that shows a teenage gang obsessed of celebrities. This gang is geared to rob homes of their Hollywood idols.
The writer and director of the film, Sofia Coppola, told that ?The Bling Ring? is based on the real-life story of a similar gang that used to target their glamour world celebrities online and then used to steal their precious belongings. Emma watched a lot of television shows to get her accommodated to this kind of a role where she had to be one of the gang members. She also had to fit into some skimpy outfits and practice the Los Angeles accent. According to Emma, her main challenge was to understand the concept of why these already-rich teenagers were so obsessed with celebs like Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton.
Emma Watson revealed some other shooting secrets when she had to take dance cues from Beyonc? and the way she got perfect at pole dancing. Crowded by the photographers, Emma shared that she enjoys this transformation, as she likes working with new and creative people. Set for a June release, this film also stars Israel Broussard, Katie Chang and Taissa Farmiga. Katie Chang plays the leader of the Bling Ring gang, while Israel is her lieutenant. The whole gang is show to be involved in making sneaky plans to rob celebrities off designer stuff, bling and cash so their alcohol- and drug-fuelled lifestyle could be supported. Then, they went hyping and boasting about this lifestyle.
There were positive reviews about the film after its media screening at Cannes Film Festival. The director herself said that the film comments on the modern culture where such teenage obsession of adopting a celeb lifestyle exists and celebs have their houses more than full with expensive stuff. She also gave an example of Paris Hilton?s home to be as exotic as she had never ever witnessed. So, let?s wait and watch how ?The Bling Ring? performs when it opens in theaters on June 14.
