Nobody bother to interrogate co-star actress Lavina Bhatia, but victim’s father alleged that it was not a simple suicide case. About one year after now police arrested the actress under section 302 (for punishment of murder). Kunal Singh, a struggling actor, was found hanging in his rented apartment in Lokhandwala Complex in February 2008.
Kunal had starred in some Bhojpuri and one Bollywood movie, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his rented first floor apartment. Singh’s father filed a petition in the Bombay high court alleging murder. Early this year, the high court said prima facie it was murder. A special investigating team was set up to investigate. Earlier Police declared it was the case of suicide within 45 minutes of investigation, as per Singh’s father. It was informed that his friend and co-star Laveena was in the house when the incident happened.
His son’s body had several injury marks. “The injury on his right arm suggested that someone was holding him from the back,” he said. Also, there were strangulation marks on the neck. “It was below where it should have been if he had hanged himself. It seemed like he had been hanged after being strangulated. Moreover, he was found hanging with one of his legs on the sofa and the other one on a suitcase, which was unbelievable.”
Singh’s father said it was difficult to say if Bhatia was involved in the murder. “But she is surely hiding facts,” he said. “An hour before his death, he had sent a text message to music director Dabu Mallik inviting him to come over to his house. Why would he call or message anyone if he had decided to kill himself?”
