For quite a while, French President Nicolas Sarkozy was hogging the limelight, not because of his political astute, but for an affair with supermodel lover, Carla Bruni. In fact, his relationship with the ravishing Carla was bringing him a bad name and many were questioning his integrity and character.
To make the matter worse, his opponents even went on to say that Nicolas is not worth for the coveted post. But, though little late, Nicolas Sarkozy has decided to end all rumors as the duo has decided to tie the nuptial knot. The couple in-love from past one month is all set to wed on February 8th or 9th this year according Le Journal du Dimanche — the newspaper owned by Sarkozy’s friend Arnaud Lagardere.
The news that President proposed Carla on Xmas with an engagement ring was also made public by the same newspaper. The wedding of the duo will also end the dilemma of Sarkozy’s official visit to UK in March. If Sarkozy makes a visit to UK without entering wedlock, he would be the first French head of state to visit UK without a wife in hundred years of history.
As a matter of fact since 1904, when Britain and France settled for ‘Entente Cordiale’ no French leader has visited UK sans First Lady. Sarkozy, with newly wed Carla, will be in UK from March 26 to March 28.
But now, with reports coming in of the approaching marriage, it’s for sure that Carla being a wedded wife of the President will enjoy all those lavish luxuries of Windsor Castle and a ride in a horse-drawn carriage with a guard of honor.
Indeed marrying and becoming the First Lady will be a dream-come-true for Carla, 40, who has dated many known names like Donald Trump and Mike Jagger. But for Mr Sarkozy, only time will tell what luck has in store after he exchanges vows with the Supermodel — as his popularity has steeply fallen due to his love life and luxurious lifestyle.
