Group of 40-50 people ransacks Star News office in Mumbai

Some activists of Hindu Rashtriya Sena attacked the Mumbai office of Star News today evening. The group of 40-50 people entered into the Star TV office that is located in Mahalaxmi area and ransacked windowpanes of many cars standing in the parking. Later, they entered into reception inside the office and started breaking glasses and other equipments.

According to Star News, the activists allegedly belong to Hindu Rashtriya Sena and its activists were protesting against Star News because the news channel had showed the story of a couple, the boy, reportedly a Muslim and the girl, a Hindu and a minor. Both came from Surat to Mumbai and Star News provided shelter to them.

According to CEO of Star TV Uday Shankar, the attack happened because of a story that Star News carried. Some people calling themselves as activists of Hindu Rashtriya Sena forcefully entered into the office and started breaking glasses and hitting employees. They broke everything inside including private properties of employees.

He said:

some people have got minor injuries. Media works under pressure these days. Every time you report something, one small group of people do not like and they are likely to come and attack you.

However, Mumbai Commissioner of Police D N Jhadav said that the police have been detained 35 people in the case and all legal actions are being taken against them.
