Hung Yogurt turns out ‘nutty’ and ‘spicy’

Asia: Nepal

shrikhandSikarni is a local dessert made in Nepal and the Indian version of Shrikhand, derived from the Sanskrit word shikharini. This dessert is made from yogurt and spices and it has a tart and sweet taste. This is made by beating together yogurt and sour cream, followed by draining all the liquid from the curd. Then you just have to fold in a whole lot of nutty and spicy flavors with sugar, cinnamon, black pepper, cardamom, nutmeg, dissolved saffron, and pistachio nuts.

Sikarni
is more or less similar to the East Indian Mishti Doi (Sweet yogurt), which has the taste of vanilla and is made only of curd and caramelized sugar.
