Indian children are now finding their homes in the United States and other countries, as there is a huge demand for Indian children abroad. According to the report, most of the American couples are turning towards India to adopt children. The US ranks at first place in the list of overseas adoptions from India. At least 945 Indian children have found their new homes in US in last three years.
According to women and child development minister Renuka Chowdhury, most of the NRIs are suffering from guilt that they have left their motherland. They feel that they should show some responsibility towards their country. This is the biggest cause behind the highest adoption cases coming from US.
Italy ranks at second place with 419 Indian children have been adopted in the same time period. Further, Spain adopted 301 children and Denmark adopted 194 Indian children. Couples in Sweden adopted 123 Indian children during this period, Switzerland 86, Germany 79, Belgium 72, Australia 68, UAE 63 and the UK 53.
The trends revealed that the Indian children are being preferred as better than children of any other country for adoption purpose. Renuka Chowdhury said that it is Indian DNA that has survived for more than 5,000 years. Indian children have superior intelligence and most importantly, they represent great Indian culture and resilience.
