After seeing the creativity of her fans at her website, Janet Jackson decided to start off ‘The Design Me contest’. She was so touched with the all the creative stuff kids were doing with her pictures and all that she wants to give them a chance to design the cover of her upcoming album ‘20 Years Old‘, which is set for release on 26 September.
The idea was coined by Janet and her boyfriend Jermaine Dupri, President Virgin Records, Urban Music, I think it’s a great idea of making thousands of people work for you for free and most importantly you are getting unmatched publicity. Janet has come up with a collection of her old and latest pictures to help the contestants. Contestants are required to make album covers with those pictures and are required to post them on the contest page. Then they can vote for their favorite entries. Final decision would be taken by Janet herself. She has not set any parameters for participation and wants her fans to just ‘Go For It’.
Janet’s album ’20 Years Old’ celebrates the completion of 20 years of the release of her 1986 breakthrough set, Control.
