Scarlett Johansson, who was recently called one of the sexiest women ever, had to have herself ‘de-sexified’ in order to fit the bill to play the ‘dowdy girl-next-door’ in The Nanny Diaries.
The movie revolves around a college girl who works as a nanny to meet the expenses. It was Johansson who volunteered to de-glamorize herself to suit the role. Robert Pulcini, who is co-directing the movie, told:
We thought about how we would approach Scarlett because she is very glamorous, but she’s the one who said, ‘I really think I should have brown hair and look like an everyday college girl in this movie.’
The film is based on a best-selling book jointly authored by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus. Talking about the movie Pulcini said:
It’s very much the story of a girl finding her identity. She’s quite confused about what kind of future she should choose, and she ducks out of her life for a period and deals with other people’s problems instead of her own. She’s avoiding that final step into adulthood.
