Juliet Binoche’s Oscar reminiscences

Right after Oscars, it was time to write about the memories these celebrities’ had related to Oscars. So the search goes to Juliet Binoche, where she tells the correspondent that she let her three-year-old son play with the award right after she received it in 1996 for the best supporting actress in The English Patient with randy Ralph Fiennes.

She says:

When I first brought the Oscar home, I wanted to share my award, so I let my then three-year-old son play with it. After a few days, it started peeling until it was all naked – there was no gold left. It made me a little sad, but I couldn’t stop smiling and thinking about how it is all illusion. Though it was kindly replaced by the Academy, it made me realize that the real award is what you keep inside you.

Well said Juliet. It’s nice that how she made each one realize that an award is not what you get in hand but what you make yourself and feel you are awarded with-in you.
