Police have uncovered a racket which was flourished well in the field of kidney transplantation and had taken 3 culprits under police custody who are associated with this case in Bangalore.

The kidney transplantation racket uncovered on 12th August — when a person informed police about this racket and told them the about the house in Nelamangala where he had been asked to visit. The police raided the house and rescued nearly five peoples who were kept there for kidney removal.

The main culprit in this case is Mahadeva and he has accepted that he is guilty in front of the police and told that he was running this kidney racket from past 7 years and persuaded 25 donors to donate kidney up till now.

The expected donors were freed, who had been kept in imprisonment at the house of the gang members — Mohan Kumar & Ravi Kumar who are also under police custody.

Police informed that these persons use to lure the needy & poor people to give their kidney to patients who are suffering from the problem of kidney failure. A police official informed that they use to sell the kidneys for Rs400,000 and just gave the only Rs100,000 to the donors.

Mahadeva and his gang members forged the documents for obtaining the clearance from the Authorisation Committee for the contribution of organs. The clearance from the Authorisation Committee is required to guarantee that organ donation is not for business purposes.

Mahadeva told to the policemen that he took the help of two workers in the Nelamangala taluk office to create false documents for Rs8,000 in each case.

Police informed that the hospitals have no involvement in this case, as they were unaware that the documents given were false.
Police informed that the culprits and their relatives had also given their kidneys to the patients. Ravi Kumar had given his kidney two years before; Uma the wife of Mohan Kumar had sold her kidney to a politician’s wife.

Police informed that the main culprit of this crime is Mahadeva. He had 3 wives and each one of them have also given their kidneys.

Police also informed that wife of Mohan Kumar was also an active member of the group. The police are searching for her and also one more culprit who has hidden himself to avoid his arrest.

The CM of Karnataka — Mr. H.D. Kumaraswamy has told the reporters that he is deeply shocked over this issue and has given directions to the police to take strong actions against the culprits.
