Pop diva Madonna chose a remote village in the Indian desert state of Rajasthan for her New Year’s Eve celebrations. The 49-year old singer along with husband Guy Ritchie and five friends drove to a heritage hotel in Dechu village close to the historic city of Jodhpur.
The party flew in from the Maldives on a chartered plane and rang in the New Year among the undulating sand dunes of the historic city. According to a Hindustan Times report, the singer will travel to Jaiselmer today and is likely to visit Udaipur later during her trip.

The pop star will be in Rajasthan for five to six days.
The Press Trust of India reports that the security has been beefed-up in areas surrounding the places Madonna is likely to visit with her personal security guards having already arrived in Jodhpur three days prior to her visit.
This indeed is a time of double celebration for Madonna and her husband as she has only recently been granted full custody of her adopted Malawian son, David. The star also has plans to adopt a daughter from Cambodia.
