If last year was really bad for someone, then it was for Mel Gibson. The man who gave us such gems as ???Braveheart??? and ???Apocalypto??? was involved in cases of racism, domestic violence and drunk and disorderly conduct.
Frankly, it all sounds a little hard to believe. How can the ???Mad Max??? who knows ???What Women Want??? and can turn that into a ???Lethal Weapon??? be a bad guy. Sure, he may have a drinking problem, but he should not be judged for one moment of losing control.
The actor who was once voted People???s ???sexiest man alive??? seems to have finally found some support in Violet Kowal, the woman who claims she was Gibson???s mistress. TMZ.com, the celebrity news web site, quoted her as saying:
Violent, racist, anti-Semitic???are you serious? When I was around Mel, he never once made any racist or derogatory remark about anyone.
While Kowal???s credibility may not mean much to a lot of people but her show of support should come as a ray of light for the talented actor-cum-director as he has been in the eye of the storm for the better part of last year.
His personal issues with then girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, a Russian pianist, spilled out onto the public domain with devastating implications for the actor???s career. Some crude racial remarks attributed to him that were leaked to the press have already done some serious damage.
Gibson recently broke his silence on the controversy.
It???s one terribly, awful moment in time, said to one person, in the span of one day and doesn???t represent what I truly believe or how I’ve treated people my entire life.
