missing brazil beauty wins lawsuit 14

Miss Brazil for 2002, Taiza Thomsen, who reportedly went missing recently has been awarded US$80,600 in a lawsuit that she had filed against the organizers of the pageant.

Taiza Thomsen was initially crowned as the runner up but later declared the winner, after Joseane Oliveira was stripped off the title as her marital status was revealed. In the lawsuit filed for damages caused due to delayed crowning, Thomsen alleged that the judges were aware about the marriage all along.

On January 25, Thomsen’s parents reported her missing. However, earlier this month the beauty queen contacted Brazilian police from London and conveyed that she was fine and didn’t want to be contacted and bothered.

She had filed a petition demanding 1 million reals (US$474,000, euro363,999) for in moral and material damages from the pageant organizers.

She claimed that the delay in receiving her crown caused her to lose out on a series of benefits usually awarded to Miss Brazil,

said an unnamed court spokeswoman.
