Names of Oscar presenters and performers revealed

Hollywood is all geared up for the upcoming 80th Annual Academy Awards, will be telecast on ABC on the night of 24th February, 2008. After the writers??? guild called off their long-lasting strike recently (which would have cast a doubtful shadow on the broadcast of the Oscars akin to this year???s Golden Globes Awards), it is expected that Oscars this year will be a majestic event complete with the usual pomp and grandeur. According to Academy President Sid Ganis and Oscar telecast producer Gil Cates, the event will be presented by numerous Hollywood celebrities including Helen Mirren, Forest Whitaker, Jennifer Hudson, Alan Arkin, Jessica Alba, Patrick Dempsey, George Clooney, Miley Cyrus, Katherine Heigl and Nicole Kidman. Wow! That???s quite an impressive line-up.

Hang on, the list is not over yet. It has also been reported that during the course of the ceremony Cate Blanchett, Josh Brolin, Steve Carell, Penélope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Colin Farrell, Harrison Ford, Jennifer Garner, Tom Hanks, Anne Hathaway, Jonah Hill, Dwayne Johnson, James McAvoy, Queen Latifah, Seth Rogen, Martin Scorsese, Hilary Swank, John Travolta, Denzel Washington and Renée Zellwegger will also apparently pose as presenters at the Kodak Theatre podium. I wonder is there anyone left in Hollywood. Yes, we are perhaps forgetting Angelina Jolie and beau Brad Pitt.

The spokesmen for the Oscars have announced almost the entire set of performances in the show by further revealing that Amy Adams will sing ‘Happy Working Song,’ Kristin Chenoweth and Marlon Saunders will perform ‘That’s How You Know,’ and ‘So Close,’ is planned to be sung by Jon McLaughlin. Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova will perform on ‘Falling Slowly,’ and Jamia Simone Nash and the IMPACT Repertory Theatre of Harlem, headed by Jamal Joseph, will perform ‘Raise It Up’. I am sure it is going to be an exciting night filled with entertainment and frolic. However, I still feel they could have kept the events and the names of the presenters undisclosed till the broadcast that night. That would have kept millions of viewers across the world guessing about which star will turn up next at the show.
