Dreaded brigand Nirbhay Gujjar is shot dead by the Special Task Force after an encounter in the ravines of Etawah in Uttar Pradesh. The encounter took place in Chitapur village under Ajitmal Police Station.
Senior superintendent of police, STF, Akhil Kumar who led the ambush team himself had a narrow escape as Nirbhay fired at him. The bullet hit him on the chest but his bullet-proof vest saved his life.
Nirbhay was wanted by the police for nearly 200 cases, including 50 abductions and a reward of Rs 2.5 lakh had been announced on his head.
After Veerappan who was shot dead last year by Karnataka-Tamil Nadu STF last year, Nirbhay was believed to be the most feared outlaw in the country. His killing is expected to end the Bhind-Etawah belt.
